Dennis Bertram, Skyships

The oil paintings of Dennis Bertram, of Buffalo, NY, feature “skyships” or tightly formed visual constructions built from smaller images evoking houses, churches and other buildings. Abstract skyships dominate naturalistic, often figurative paintings that have been physically defaced, dominated and assimilated – a metaphor for militaristic invasions. Flower-inspired “bouquets” relate to our temporal transience, and other works elicit ideas of overpopulation and psychological burden. Learn more about the artist at http://www.dennisbertram.com.

Thinking Money Exhibit Kick-Off Event

Be one of the first to tour our Thinking Money Exhibit at our kick-off event. Thinking Money is a museum-quality traveling exhibition that strives to teach tweens, teens and their parents, caregivers and educators about financial literacy topics—like saving, spending and avoiding fraud—in a way that is not only understandable, but fun.

In additional to the interactive exhibit, at 6 pm members of Bitty Box, a local screen printing business run by area teenagers at GIAC, will be giving a presentation on what it’s like to run your own business. From 5 – 6, you’ll also be able to make your own duct-tape wallet and play games for a chance to win prizes.

Thinking Money was developed by the American Library Association Public Programs Office in collaboration with the FINRA Investor Education Foundation, whose support made this exhibition possible.
