RON PARENT, From DETROIT to ITHACA – art in transition.

Ron recently moved from Detroit, Michigan to Ithaca. His pastels and paintings on exhibit offer an overview of his various styles from realism to abstraction. His subject matter is based on landscapes and waterscapes from his surrounding environment and travels. Ron blends in a non-traditional way, using soft erasers, palette knives, and squeegees to move the medium around on the paper or canvas. These methods of application allow for subtle variations and blending of colors. In some cases, pigments and paint are removed from the canvas to reveal a unique effect underneath. In other cases, the medium is manipulated to achieve a variety of textures.
