State of the Art Gallery 120 W State St
Time and Motion, Patricia Brown and Barbara Mink
Time and Motion explores the freedom of line and vibrancy of color in the work of Patricia Brown and Barbara Mink. Through the placement of diagonal, gestural and directional lines, both women use motion to imply the passage of time. Brown suggests the figure by observing dancers; Mink suggests the landscape and built environment. In both cases their goal is not efficiency but rather the freedom to explore. A reception for the artists will be held Friday, April 7 from 5-8pm and the artists will host a talk-back reception Sunday, April 23 at the gallery to discuss abstraction, their processes, and how it relates to their theme, time and Motion.
Show dates are April 5 through 30, 2017. State of the Art is at 120 W. Martin Luther King, Jr./State Street with curbside parking and ADA accessibility. Hours: Wed. – Fri., 12-6pm and Sat. & Sun., 12-5pm. Contact info: 607-277-1626 and http://www.soagithaca.com
