Join us on Gallery Night for a program of short films made by Ithaca College students and presented by The Studio. This program showcases two documentaries by and about women athletes.
“2,000 Meters Out” follows Emily Morley, a rower on the IC Women’s Crew Team, through the highs and lows of her journey to the Olympics. This is a work-in-progress; come learn about how documentaries are made from the student filmmakers Maeve Berry, Bailey Doran, Abby Mellinger, Rebecca Veninsky, and Julia Williamson.
“A Champion for Women” by Brenna Dowd is about Olympic gold medal swimmer Nancy Hogshead-Makar. Later, as a civil rights lawyer, she vigorously applied Title IX to prohibit discrimination against girls and women in any educational program or activity that receives federal funding.
